Manager, Business Development/ Finance, Life Sciences Organization

Position Description: The Manager will contribute to both the corporate finance department and the business development department. S/he will develop and manage financial analysis & reporting for the senior management and the board of directors, including monthly financial, commercial and operational reporting and corporate projections and analysis. The Manager will also contribute to all aspects of business development and the financial and market assessment of company-building initiatives including company financing, mergers and acquisitions, product partnerships, and geographic/platform expansion.
Responsibilities: Develop and manage monthly reporting and analysis for the executive management and board of directors, including budget vs. actual comparisons, financial statement trend analysis, corporate & department productivity and production, product launches, etc. Develop analyses, projections and profitability studies related to customers, CPT codes, payors, products, divisions, departments, etc. Manage projections and profitability analyses with regards to sales force compensation plan development. Contribute to business development and corporate strategic planning financial analytics, including market sizing, forecasting, benchmarking, deal optimization, and management of a strategic financial model. Work with senior management to prepare summary presentations (including partner profiles, opportunity assessments, financial analyses, etc.) for board of directors. Perform ad-hoc financial & market analyses as needed for senior management
Requirements: Undergraduate degree required; pre-and post-MBA candidates will be considered. At least 2-3 years of relevant experience (investment banking or strategic consulting – with strong financial modeling experience, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), business development, and / or healthcare venture capital). Strong analytical skills, particularly with Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint, excellent communication skills – oral and written, self-motivated individual, strong work ethic, strong attention to detail, team oriented. Ability to quickly synthesize and manage large amounts of financial and business information.
Product Manager, Medical Device Company

Company Description: Our client is developing the world’s first intra-aural 3D scanner providing fast, highly accurate and minimally invasive mapping of the human ear canal.
Position Description: In this role, the Product Manager will develop positioning and marketing plans through product research, analysis, evaluation and strategy. The PM will develop product launch and marketing plans which might include advertising, product packaging, sales promotions (new and existing), sales training, tradeshow marketing, sales collateral, educational marketing and internet marketing consistent with the vision for the organization. This individual will report to the VP of Product Development.
Position Responsibilities Include: Develop a product roadmap and prioritize features for research and development. Developing the product concept, developing a business case for the product, and establishing product pricing. Prepare functional specifications to document product design. Prepare products for release: review customer feedback, develop product information materials including Instructions for Use guidelines and support documentation. Championing product commercialization activities across multiple internal and external groups such as design, packaging and labeling, regulatory claims, surgical technique generation, sales force education, and operations and planning. Manages the product life cycle through regulatory, product issues, pricing issues, sales and distribution, Marketing and promotions. Coordinates with the Regulatory Affairs Department to stay in compliance with regard to the manufacturing of prototypes. Creates and modifies product documents. Make vs. buy decision for key technologies/features. Prepares quarterly business review, including key issues summary, and recommended action plan; provides and monitors monthly sales forecasting of specific assigned product lines and monthly flash reports of key trends. Winning customer loyalty and gathering requirements from customers. Benchmarking. Analyze customer segments, market trends and competitive gaps to identify strategic opportunities. Provides assistance and support to Sales and Inside Technical Sales on new and existing product with regard to function and compatibility of product and with competitors’ products. Develops sales education programs. Coordinates with Purchasing to support vendor relations to improve product offerings, improve margins, and delivery on sales agreements. Develops and submits annual sales budget and marketing plan for assigned products. Serve as point of contact for any questions, concerns, or suggestions regarding products. Remains current on all product information. Monitors progress and adherence to timelines. Ensures functional plans are aligned with product and project strategies. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Executive Vice President and President.
Job Requirements: BS in EE/ME, MBA preferred and / or 3-5 years experience working in a medical or dental device company / environment; or a combination of both experience and education. Product launch experience required. New product development within ENT product experience preferred. Knowledge of principles and methods involved in classical marketing including research, advertising promotion and public relations. This includes marketing strategies and tactics, product demonstration and sales techniques. Knowledge of techniques needed to assist in technical layouts and product releases. High-level knowledge of the 3D imaging industry in general and more specifically the segments targeted in the ear canal imaging would be preferred. Knowledge of creative advertising, social media, promotion, research, public relations and production. Strong track record of meeting the needs of internal and external customers. Must have the ability to analyze, evaluate and estimate sales trends. Ability to keep an eye on the big picture and work towards changes directed at a larger overall goal. Must have working knowledge of MS Office. Must have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and have excellent organizational skills, excellent grammar, spelling and typing skills, and effective written and verbal communication skills.
Director/Sr. Director Business Development and Technology Evaluation

To address this need, our client founds and manages portfolio companies to develop and commercialize the next generation of transformational platform technologies in areas such as disease biology, safety, efficacy, and drug discovery.
Description of Position: Our client is looking for an individual to join their team to assist with technology sourcing and due diligence, business plan development, and commercialization of innovative platform technologies. This individual will also be involved with intellectual property assessment, market research, competitive landscape assessments, technical due diligence, financial projections and modeling, creation of a product development strategy and development of a partnership strategy including deal flow analysis. This information would be used to initiate new company formation and for business development purposes to drive product development, positioning, and potential collaborations, partnerships, and/or alliances. Individuals in this role may also assume interim management roles within portfolio companies of our client. They will lead projects of importance to our client. They may also have interactions with our client’s strategic partners and be actively involved in business development deal activities and negotiations for the portfolio companies.
Candidate Requirements: Advanced scientific degree (Ph.D., MD) with accomplished publication record, including first author publications. 4-6+ years of experience on the business side of the life sciences industry in a biotech, pharmaceutical company, consulting firm, or venture capital firm preferred; MBA from a top tier school is a plus. Business development experience in deal evaluation, structuring team sheets, and negotiation of deals is preferred. Deal sheet with successful negotiations is a plus. Experience with platform technologies and small and large molecule drug discovery and development is preferred. Experience across multiple therapeutic / platform areas from a technical and market perspective. Experience performing market assessment and competitive landscape evaluations including primary and secondary market research is preferred. Experience with intellectual property assessments is preferred. Strong modeling and forecasting skills along with strategic problem solving and analytical skills. Specific experience selling bioanalytical CRO services for a minimum of 2 years is required. Small molecule experience required, large molecule experience preferred. High level of energy, enthusiasm, and productivity in prospecting efforts. Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and be able to present in both small and large group settings. Ability to think on your feet, identify and resolve issues in a quick, effective manner. Must have a polished, professional presentation style. Experience presenting to C-level executives and the ability to identify key decision-makers.
